Rob Horton started his salon in Savannah in 1993 after living in London England and training @ The Vidal Sassoon Academy on Bond Street in London. Rob's intention was to move back to the states and start working in New York immediately, but after a week home in Savannah, he realized there was a big gap in the salon market.
"Salons” were large cookie cutter, facilities. Everyone was doing the same thing and there wasn't much artistic influence", in the tiny neighborhood of Chelsea, where Rob lived in London, there were atelier salons. These salons were more focused on craft, rather than dollars.
With a 5000 dollar loan and a drive to succeed Rob's first salon "liberty 6 " was born. A 3 chair salon , became 4 , then 5 and so on. Quickly outgrowing the small brownstone on Liberty street , Rob purchased a window front building in the Victorian district on historic Forsyth Park. During these years , Rob was awarded a coveted spot o n the "American Team Y.E.S" , traveling the country as a platform stylist and teacher.
Later, Rob was also awarded the Vidal Sassoon " New Talent Award." Spending time with, and getting to know Vidal Sassoon personally was the biggest highlight of my career", says Rob. " After growing to a 14 chair salon on Forsyth Park , again , Rob saw a change in the market. " There was so much excess in the early 2000's - too much of everything" so , Rob made another bold move and opened another curated salon in a revitalized 12 story 1950's building , again in the heart of the historic district.
